  • Handgun Practice Sessions
    In 2017 our volunteers will once again offer our monthly handgun basics sessions with supervised shooting practice for men and women age 18 and up. New dates from April through October and details are included in the downloadable flyer.

    5:00 pm - Friday Night Shotgun Shoot. Includes four rounds of trap, double trap, 5-stand or skeet, plus food and beverage with additional rounds at member/non member rates. Open to the public; nonmembers are welcome.  Participants bring: shotgun, at least 100 target load lead or steel shells (no hunting or defense loads) and eye and ear protection. Start any time between 5:00 pm and 9:30 pm. Food available at 6:30 pm. Fees may be paid by cash or check. Preregister individuals and groups by email to ShotgunSports@aurorasc.org. Walk-ins are welcome.

    8:00 am - Free Holster Draw Clinic for current members and for anyone who is thinking about joining. Meet in the main office area. Get certified to practice drawing from a holster. (Dry fire only.) Preregistration required by message to GroupEvents@aurorasc.org. No walk-ins please.

    8:00 am - Practical Precision Rifle. Looking for a chance to see what your safe queen can do? With distances from 100-600 yards and stages to engage paper and steel targets from: standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, etc., this is a fun shooting competition that will test your marksmanship. New shooters will have an option to engage larger targets so everyone can get some hits. More experienced shooters will engage smaller targets for higher points.     9:00 am – Prospective Member Facility Tours. Volunteers will show you around our 250+ acres of outdoor sports facility. Where else can you do it all: trap, skeet, 5-stand, rifle, pistol, archery, fishing and sporting clays! Stay for the orientation and learn all about becoming a member.http://www.aurorasc.org/membership

    10:00 am - IDPA Skill Drills. This is a non-competitive, timed practice shoot with center fire pistols, drawn from the holster. It is made up of a series of short scenarios, usually 6 to 12 shots with one magazine change, shot from a standing position.     9:00 am – Sporting Clays Course – How to shoot Sporting Clays. From 9am to noon we will be offering brief instruction and practice for anyone who would like to learn more about shooting this fun game. Preregister by email to ShotgunSports@aurorasc.org. Class is five dollars per person. Bring at least two boxes of target load shells, shotgun, hearing protection and safety glasses. If you want to shoot the course after the class at member rates, bring another 100 shells.

    9:00 am – Sporting Clays Course will be Open to the Public and Members. Come shoot our new 12-station, 100 target course. Three levels of game: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Nonmembers and guests enjoy $25.00 member rates today. Spectators with eye/ear protection are welcome to walk the course with you. Gates open at 9:00am, last start time at 2:00pm.     8:00am Practical Rifle Match - Distances from 100-600 yards, stages with paper and steel targets, shooting from various positions (standing, kneeling, sitting, prone, etc.)  This fast-paced, long range shooting competition will test your marksmanship.     8:30am Sporting Clays Event - Competition is optional, everyone welcome. Squads start between 8:30am and 2:00pm. Participants bring: any gauge shotgun, safety glasses, hearing protection and five boxes of target load shells. Fees are $30.00 per person at check in for 100-targets plus lunch and drink.     8:30am ASC Muzzleloading Shoot - We shoot casual matches at 25 yards. All matches are open for re-entry (as many targets as you would like to shoot). Open to members and nonmembers.     9:30am Daughters on the Range Day - Join us and bring your daughters, granddaughters and nieces (and their brothers) to the range for a day of safety education, shooting and family bonding. Suggested ages 10+ for rifle and handgun, 15+ for shotgun, any for archery. This event is free of charge.  The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club is providing the use of firearms, ammunition, bows, safety equipment and qualified instruction. Pre-registration not required.  Onsite registration closes at 11:30am. http://www.aurorasc.org/disciplines/youth

    8:00am CMP Service Rifle Clinic - Interested in learning about National Match competition with U.S. military issue rifles?  Don't have a U.S. military issue rifle, use ours! ASC, in conjunction with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP), will conduct National Match Course Clinics.     Cowboy Action Shooting! Come join the Kishwaukee Valley Regulators at ASC on the first Sunday of each month April through November 2017.   • Youth Programs
    The Aurora Sportsmen's Club is pleased to offer young shooters (ages 10-17) the opportunity to develop their shooting skills and start or make progress on Winchester/NRA Marksmanship qualification programs in Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun disciplines. 

    These programs can be used by all scouting programs to make progress and complete requirements for their Archery and Shooting Sports awards and badges.  This includes, but is not limited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and Trail Life.  Please bring your records of completed prerequisites if you have them.

    All ASC Youth programs are open to the public.  Details and flyers for 2017 programs are available by clicking here.

  • New Member Orientation and Enrollment
    Orientations are scheduled each month on the second Saturday at 10:00 AM, fourth Sunday at 2:00 PM in 2016 with the exception of May and December. A tour of the Club will be available one hour prior to the Orientation. Click on the Membership tab to see what you need to bring with you.

    There are lots of Shotgun Sports classes, clinics and special events scheduled. More details are in the attached file and on the Shotgun Sports tab on the left side of your screen.
    Check the Shotgun page (click on the tab at the left) for fees, days and hours open. Trap, Skeet, 5-Stand and Sporting Clays are open to members and their guests every day, all year long, self-service.

    Times and dates are listed on the Club Calendar. All are open to the public. The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) events simulate self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. Geared toward the new or average shooter, they are fun, challenging and rewarding.
