  • Handgun Practice Sessions
    The sessions for 2017 have ended. In 2018 our volunteers will once again offer our monthly handgun basics sessions with supervised shooting practice for men and women age 18 and up. New dates from April through October and details will be posted soon.

    Friday October 6, 2017

    5:00pm Night Shotgun Shoot - Includes trap, double trap, 5-stand or skeet, plus food and beverage with additional rounds at member/nonmember rates. Bring: shotgun, at least 100 target load lead or steel shells (no hunting or defense loads) and eye and ear protection. Start any time between 5:00 pm and 9:30 pm. Food available at 6:30 pm. To help us plan, please preregister individuals and groups by email to ASC.Shotgun.Dept@gmail.com. Walk-ins and spectators welcome.

    8:00am 2-Gun Match - Learn all about running and gunning in a safe environment. Shooters move through different stages and engage targets in a variety of positions, transitioning between firearms. Come (with hearing and eye protection) to watch or sign up and shoot. www.aurorascpr.org to find out about Action Shooting Sports.

    8:00am Youth Shooting Sports Clinic - Young shooters (ages 10-17) learn safety, develop shooting skills; progress on Winchester/NRA Marksmanship qualification programs or complete Boy Scout requirements in Archery, Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun disciplines.     9:00am Shotgun Basics Class - Learn shotgun use, safety, and clay target shooting. Classroom time will be followed by on-field instruction and supervised practice. Class fee is ten dollars per nonmember, free for members and their families. Pay member rates for clays thrown during the class. Preregister by email to GroupEvents@aurorasc.org. No walk-ins please. We will now meet in the Shotgun Sports area pavilion for the classroom portion.

    2:00pm 1st Annual ASC October Sky Rocketry Open Launch - For members and their guests. ASC now has a sport rocketry department. We will be holding an informal, open flight "run what you brung" event to introduce the latest reason to spend more time at the club. Individual permits and guest passes/wrist bands not required.     4:00pm IDPA Skill Drills - This is a non-competitive, timed practice shoot with center fire pistols, drawn from the holster. It is made up of a series of short scenarios, usually 6 to 12 shots with one magazine change, shot from a standing position. A squad of eight or more will shoot at the same time so everybody gets lots of practice. If you’re thinking about shooting IDPA matches this is a great place to start.   • Youth Programs
    The Aurora Sportsmen's Club is pleased to offer young shooters (ages 10-17) the opportunity to develop their shooting skills and start or make progress on Winchester/NRA Marksmanship qualification programs in Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun disciplines. 

    These programs can be used by all scouting programs to make progress and complete requirements for their Archery and Shooting Sports awards and badges.  This includes, but is not limited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and Trail Life.  Please bring your records of completed prerequisites if you have them.

    All ASC Youth programs are open to the public.  Details and flyers for 2017 programs are available by clicking here.

  • IDPA Monthly Pistol Match and Skills Drills

    Times and dates are listed on the Club Calendar. All are open to the public. The International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) events simulate self-defense scenarios and real life encounters. Geared toward the new or average shooter, they are fun, challenging and rewarding.
