All ASC Youth Programs are Open to Members and Guests

The Aurora Sportsmen's Club, located in Waterman, Illinois is pleased to offer young shooters (ages 10-17) the opportunity to develop their shooting skills, thus allowing them to work towards their NRA Marksmanship qualification in Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun disciplines.

Registration for 2024 Youth Events is now being accepted. Flyers for the 2024 Programs are available at the bottom of this page for download. These programs can be used by all scouting programs to make progress and complete requirements for their Archery and Shooting Sports awards and badges. This includes, but is not limited to Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, American Heritage Girls and Trail Life. Please bring your records of completed prerequisites if you have them.

Daughters on the Range - Saturday June 29 - open for registration: morning and afternoon sessions are available
Junior Rifle - 11 places open
Junior Pistol - taking names for the waitlist. The class is full at this point.
Monthly Programs -
- May - 4 spaces left for Archery; 4 spaces left for handgun; 10 spaces left for afternoon rifle; 8 spaces left for afternoon shotgun (morning rifle and morning shotgun are full)
- June - All programs are available
- July - No sessions
- August - Morning sessions only, All programs are available
- September - All programs are available
- October - Morning sessions only, All programs are available

Junior Rifle - Registration is open for 2024, enrollment limited to 20 students

Junior Rifle is the long-standing program offered by ASC that teaches the NRA Basic Rifle Course to youth. It runs for three consecutive Saturdays and includes 3 hours of lecture in the morning followed by 3 hours of range time in the afternoon. Scouts are able to earn the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge by successfully completing the program. Most of the participants graduate with the NRA Sharpshooter rating in Four-Position Smallbore.

There are morning range sessions for graduates of the course who are interested in continuing to earn their advanced NRA/Winchester ratings.

The registration form is downloadable at the bottom of this web page. Please fill out the application form and submit the registration and payment as described in the form. Confirmation via email is required no later than April 8th, registration forms and fees can be submitted on first day of class.

Junior Pistol - Class is fully enrolled, taking names for Waitlist

Junior Pistol is a new program in 2024, which teaches the NRA Basic Pistol Course to youth. It runs for two consecutive Saturdays and includes 3 hours of lecture in the morning followed by 3 hours of range time in the afternoon. We will use the Bullseye Pistol (Preceision Pistol) NRA Qualification Course of Fire.

Confirmation via email is required no later than June 1st, registration forms and fees can be submitted on first day of class.

Daughters on the Range Event - Last Saturday in June

Join us and bring your daughters, granddaughters and nieces (and their brothers) to the range for a day of safety education, shooting and family bonding

There is no fee for this event
Suggested ages 10+ for rifle and handgun, 14+ for shotgun, any for archery.
The Aurora Sportsmen’s Club is providing the use of firearms, ammunition, bows, safety equipment and qualified
instruction at no cost.
Come when you can and stay as long as you want.

Onsite sign-in for the morning session starts at 9:30am and sign-in for the afternoon session starts at 12:30pm at the Rifle/Pistol building for our range located at 8998 Rueff Rd. Rueff Road runs between Waterman Road and Leland Road in Waterman, IL 60566
