Classroom instruction in basic firearms safety with an opportunity to participate in live-fire exercises, if you choose. NRA-certified instructors provide a professional yet relaxed environment. Attendees meet at 7858 Preserve Road, Waterman, IL 60556.

  • FOID CARDS NOT REQUIRED 
  • Dress for outdoor conditions with flat, closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing.
  • Bring eye and ear protection for shooting if you have it.

FREE: HUNTER SAFETY AND EDUCATION 
2-DAY Sessions

Classes are presented by the Education Department of Aurora Sportsmen’s Club.
 
These IDNR Hunter Safety Classes are the required training to obtain an Illinois hunting license. Students who pass will receive a Hunter Safety/Education Card honored throughout the United States.


Two-day Sessions:

        March 12th & March 19th, 2017 (Class 1)
        August 13th and August 20th, 2017 (Class 2)

Field Day Session: 

       SESSION FULL


Please arrive by 11:30 AM to complete State paperwork and allow class to begin promptly at
noon with a 6 PM dismissal.

You must attend both days of either class and pass the State’s written exam given near the end
of the second day of a class.

Students less than ten years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who must remain with the student for the entire class time both days.  Parents or guardians may not assist their student in any way with the exam.

Those who fully attend and pass the exam will go home with their Hunter Safety Education Student ID card and Patch.

All attendees should bring black ink pen, notepad, beverage and lunch/snack. There is no charge for attendance.

Students must attend both days of the 2-day session and pass a written exam at the end of the second day to earn the Hunter Safety Card. 

Pre-registration is required. Register by providing the name and age of the registrant via an email message to asceducationdept@gmail.com  

Classes will be held at the Clinton Township Community Center, 160 Lincoln Highway (Rt 30), Waterman, IL.
